a mixture of all of the good, all of the bad. Happy moments, sad moments. Memories, and the right now. Most importantly, life is what you make of it, and life is short so make it count.

Fucking finally. After 13 days since I ordered it. I didn’t know it was coming from Guernsey though. So that explains things. I’m so excited to own this book! I don’t normally like contemporary YA but this one is amazing. I can’t wait to re-read.

Figured I’d hand you a couple of contemporary YA recommendations then. They either also have death, or similarities in tone or characters, etc…
- Like Mandarin by Kirsten Hubbard- Anything by Ellen Hopkins*- Harmonic Feedback* and Amplified by Tara Kelly- Tell Me a Secret and Don’t Breathe a Word* by Holly Cupala- Where She Went by Gayle Forman (sequel of If I stay)
I just finished reading Vera Dietz, and OMG it’s a gem. Can’t wait to re-read and pick up things I missed the first time around!

Recently the actors who play Rue and Cinna have come under attack from racist fans of the Hunger Games. Reblog if you support the casting of Amandla Stenberg, the adorable and talented actress who plays Rue, and Lenny Kravitz, the unquestionable genius who plays Cinna. More @ eonline.

…and Thresh. But anyway, yeah. Their characters were cast perfectly, in my opinion. Even during the trailer, not once did I feel that the actors didn’t GET their roles. I read a dozen of the racist comments (from this tumblr page, can’t remember it now) and, it’s just amazing how much some people need a reality check.

“Nurse your patient, not your monitor.”

This was something I did (not really assessing the patient, just getting numbers) a lot as a first year student. Always always check the patient!

So I’ve been looking for a way to change my “main blog” and it simply can’t be done in the way I want. The guys at Tumblr really need to add in that feature, since it seems lots of people also want it. :T

Anyway, I’ve added a small script (http://m-ichael.tumblr.com/post/14944102428/how-to-make-your-secondary-blog-your-primary-blog) so that you’re automatically directed to my main blog, which is for nursing. I hope that in the future I can just make a switch and I’ll be able to breath a little easier.

Go to: http://inthevitalsigns.tumblr.com/

They should have an option when you follow others under WHICH blog persona you wish to follow them as.

From Project Unbreakable. I think it’s truly inspired that this has started up, and I do hope that it spreads awareness and strength to those who have been threatened, or who have also been a victim of sexual abuse.

I have never been so unfortunate, but going through these posts kinds of brings me a weird sort of solace.

Because I’m a 2nd year nursing student who didn’t do any sciences during her senior high school years. And we’re getting into pharmacology, and I need as much of a head start as I can get.

I’ll be branching off a bit and starting a separate tumblr blog for my nursing stuff. Easier for ME to go back and find it all, and easier on you guys if you’re squeamish or just don’t want to know health-related, medical stuff. This “blog” will continue to be completely random. There’ll be the occasional LOST post, maybe book and book blog related stuff as well (I’ve been slacking off over at Words on Paper)… and just other stuff. I love weheartit, so I do share the images I really like.

What I’m reading…

  • Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood
  • The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg (proof)
  • Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler (aka. Lemony Snickett sp?)
  • Little Women

Uni starts in like 3 weeks or something like that. Awesome! I only have Monday-Wednesday, from 9 am to 2/3 pm, with a 1 hour break each day. At least it won’t be like last semester—when I’d have to wake up at 6 am on Monday to travel to uni, take one class and then wait for 3 hours for the bloody lecture! I’m pretty excited about this semester. We have Child & Family Health Nursing, Med-surg Nursing, Pathophys & Pharmacology and Indigenous Health. It’s going to be BUSY, but it’ll be nice to hone in on more specific stuff, rather than the basics that we learnt in year 1. Maybe I’ll have more of an idea what I’d like to focus on for third year and onwards.

Lipase is an enzyme that the body uses to break down fat in food so they can be absorbed in the intestines. Lipase is primarily produced in the pancreas but is also in the mouth and stomach.
Amylase is an enzyme that helps digest carbs. It is produced in the pancreas and the glands that make saliva. When the pancreas is diseased or inflamed, amylase releases into the blood.
Protease are enzymes that help digest proteins, it is also produced in the pancreas.
These enzymes are not suppose to be found in the blood, they are suppose to be in the intestines to help with DIGESTION. Serum levels will increase in pancreatitis and liver diseases.

This was reblogged because I can’t bookmark stuff from rightatrium’s tumblr site. I wish I could…

So true! For my first year in uni, there were no more than 3 guys in any one class I’d been in. I encourage more male nurses, but the female dominance in nursing is just fact.

By the way I’m pretty n00b with tumblr. I owe this mostly to the fact that I don’t use it often. A couple days ago (I think, I really have no idea) someone commented (though I personally don’t know how people do this - please let me know hah) that I stole their tags or something. I genuinely have no idea that I’d done that when I re-blogged the post. So yeah. I wasn’t trying to be rude or anything like that. I’m just terrible at this site.

Tumblr confuses me. :/

Oh, and just so this is out in the open … Michelle Branch, for me, is timeless. My funeral song shall be … a medley of all her great songs. :P
